Derived from the seeds of cacao fruit, chocolate in raw form contains a variety of mood-enhancing components:
Phenylethylamine (PEA) is partly responsible for the "high" that you get from eating chocolate. It facilitates the release of dopamine, a naturally occurring chemical, into your body and is reputed to be a mood elevator and an anti-depressant. PEA is a major class of chemicals produced in the body when one falls in love.
